There are probably quite a few of us now that have a functioning Contax N lens on their Canon EOS body. Conurus deserves a hearty congratulations for making this work.

I've started this thread for users to share their images and show what is possible from the Contax N - Canon EOS combination.

Here is an image taken with the Zeiss N 24-85mm/f3.5 and a Canon 5D.
61mm at f9.0, 1/125th sec, ISO 100

I can't seem to get the full frame jpegs small enough to get past the 250k limit. So this one is cropped.

There is a 250K limit? I've just attached an image to this post and the "Allowed Extensions and Sizes" information link indicates that the limit is 5MB (which is quite generous).

You could alternatively get space on one of the free photo sharing websites, and then just link to the picture here using the [img] tags. (Make sure you link just to the .jpg file and not the web page the photo is on). You can also try uploading your pictures to contaximages.com which has a maximum image size of 900 pixels on any dimension.

In recognition of the season, here is a nice holiday image (524 kb) uploaded directly with this post (24-85 Vario Sonnar at 38mm and f11 on a Canon 5D)

I was wondering if people here have compared results of the Contax 24-85 N lens on the Canon 5D with those from the Canon 24-70/2.8L. How does the image quality compare? Are there drawbacks to the conversion in terms of user convenience vs buying the Canon L lens? In a similar vein, I have been quite happy with the Canon L series lenses I own (I don't have the 24-70/2.8L). The image quality of the tele lenses I own (135/2 L, 200/2.8L, 70-200/4 and 300/4 IS L) lenses is very good. Any optical advantage to going with a Contax N lens converted?

Used A Grad On My 17-35 For The First Time...
The Cokin X System Is Huge ($$$) & The Filters Are Big Too... lol
I Also Played With The Processing To Mimic Provia ... That Magenta Look.

That gives a very nice effect. I asked a dealer here in the UK if Cokin filters were available in 95mm and they said no, try Lee filters. So its good news that they make some that will fit. With the Lee system I woould have to buy two fittings since the 17-35 will one accept a push on fitting and my 24-85 requires a screw on fitting..

This brings me onto a subject that I have been thinking about for some time. Why is the 17-35 so big especially the filter size compared to Nikon and Canon offerings? Is it that the N lenses were designed from the ground up to be FF capable? Or is it the no compromise nature of Zeiss's approach to lens design? Or what? Afterall the Nikon especially does a pretty good job by all accounts.

The Cokin X System Fits Up To 112mm ...
The Full NDs Are On Backorder, But B & H Or The Filter Connection, Have The Grads 1, 2, 3, Stops
Buy The Kit & The 95mm Adapter .... Then Fulls Later...
One Thing I Really Like About The Large Filters, You Can Vary The Effect By Sliding The Filter Up & Down...
Thus Increasing/Decreasing The Intensity Without Changing The Filter...
